The staircase was a created for a sculpture assignment requiring me to use found objects. The shutters belonged to the house I grew up in. My intent for the piece was to symbolize the transition from my childhood into adulthood. The slats in the shutters create an ever changing space that can be either open and mysterious when the light is let through, or sheltering and captivating when light is blocked.
The bent lamination piece was designed to function as a hanging sculpture, adjustable at the hinges like a folding screen.
The lamps were two seperate projects, the tall brown one for a swanky interior of a hotel lobby, the second as a wind powered lamp. The latter was intended to sit on the edge of a porch or a dock and send light spinning out into the water with every breeze.
